4D charting

Hello everyone
I have some data from my local amateur archaeology society.
From a dig, they have some data, which is the X,Y,Z of the location (so scaled dimentionally), and also a frequency at this location. I am envisaging an X-Y chart, but X-Y-Z, with maybe a scaled bubble at the point to represent the frequency (a number).
If anyone is following this, is there a way? If so, please guide me.

I would caution, that if you start having many data points, this chart will get cluttered fast and lose it's meaning. Another idea to consider might be a topographical map/chart.

A topographical map provides information about 3 dimensions, and you could put an XY scatter series on it with each point labelled with frequecy info, providing a 4th dimension (so to speak).
