break dancing ... or at least breaking things up

Hi all -- I work at a plant that bottles milk and juice. Every day I have to generate a very time consuming report from all of the previous day's work. This report is generated from a DB we utilize and has 400+ rows from weight samples taken through out the day. The question I have is two...

hot off the press (selecting correct paper size)

our printer is a Sharp UD PCL6 and when I go to the drop down you indicated I get "letter", "legal" and "More Paper Sizes", when I click that I get this menu which even going through all the tabs doesn't let me choose a custom size

hot off the press (selecting correct paper size)

I went to devices and printers, etc but there was no way to add a paper size. I really am starting to believe this is a printer issue more than an Excel issue. I am going to my spreadsheet to PDF, then print so them so my sizes don't get all goofed up. thanks for your help

hot off the press (selecting correct paper size)

Hi Hui -- Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I understand it is called Tabloid (or sometimes I have seen it called Ledger), the problem is Excel is not even giving me that option on the drop down at all. I changed printers and then found it on the drop down, but when I printed the...

hot off the press (selecting correct paper size)

Hi all -- I have a large spreadsheet that I print out on a ledger 11 x17 size paper and for some reason, Excel has decided to get rid of this size paper in printer setup. I made sure to have the paper loaded but it either doesn't give me that size for a choice or it prints a forth of the...

Hi Ajesh -- I tried this and still I am getting the 1:22 instead of 1:06. *SIGH* Any other thoughts? thanks

    Tomorrow can't be today

Thank you for the [h] advice, but I tried it with this column of information and the average is not working out correctly. I manually figured out the sum and got 5 hour 30 minutes with an average of 1 hour 6 minutes, not 1 hour 22 minutes. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? 0:00:00...

    Tomorrow can't be today

Hi all - I am working with times of job completion (not time of day) and have a column formatted hh:mm. When I sum it or average it, I only get a number < 24 hours. I have tried to over ride this by doing =if(mod(sum(range), 1), sum (range), sum (range)+24) with no luck. With the average...

Going to the darkside (or need help with MS ACCESS)

Hi all -- I love this site -- have learned ALOT from it, but now I have to learn ACCESS. Can anyone recommend a blog for ACCESS that is close to as good as this one (though when you are the best; there is no competition ;))? If any of you are ACCESS trained, this is the first hurdle I have...

    Putting it all together

That is what I thought you would say. I agree with you that it would at best be an "ugly, unstable beast" but think of the challenge to make it work -- fun fun:) seriously though if you have some thoughts on how to make this a bit more stable, don't be shy. Unfortunately our budget doesn't...

    Putting it all together

We've looked at combining everything, but unfortunately different people are working on the various workbooks at the same time so I don't think that would be viable not to mention each of the individual workbooks are rather large by themselves and combining them would just slow everything down...

    Putting it all together

Hi all -- A friend asked me what the best way to link together 5+ network workbooks that different people use throughout the day. There is no guarantee that all the workbooks will be open at the same time. I thought if we had a "bridge" workbook that is always open (can that be stored on the...

Hello good sir. Here is the modified spreadsheet that works. Originally each section with bold borders was next to each other instead of a long column. It works I am just wondering how to write better code. L.Dodge

Two ways to skin a .....

Hi all -- First thank you to SirJB7, without your help on a different problem I would not be this far. I have a table 10 columns and 25 rows -- odd numbered (*see below for why I am not saying Column A,B,C etc.) columns have a sequential number, while columns have a factor of 0.015 starting at...

looking things up in a range part 2

Thanks a lot, it works GREAT once I figured that I had to put a large number in cell A7 to accommodate for A7 - A6, without which everything over 160K went to 18,000 The uploaded sheet has different values and what they should be (rounding ones column aside) before I put 500000 in cell A&.

looking things up in a range part 2

    Hi again -- The second question about looking things up in a range is more complicated. On a different problem than part 1 I have the ranges of: 100,000 - 120,000 lbs. --> 0.25 120,001 - 140,000 lbs. --> 0.30 140,001 - 160,000 lbs. --> 0.35 160,001 - --> 0.40 The way this...
