Does anyone have any thoughts on saving files as binary. I seem to lose formatting in only them..not xlsx files. Numbers keep reverting to date format. Puzzled.

Yeah, I was recalculating the workbook and also noticed when the NOW function cell is formatted to NUMBER, the excel serial date number is returned. Whereas a hard coded date returns a decimal number. Should've figured that one out. Answers completely that NOW...

Would have never come up with that. Pretty much a babe-in-the-woods with VBA. Enrolled in Chandoo's class...long way to go. Still don't understand why the =now function acts differently than a hard coded date. Thanks again. -Jim
