Hi Isityak and Faseeh, Thank you for the suggestion. I tried ctrl+shift+enter but the new pasted formula is saying "#Value!". even if I remove the parantheses in the original work sheet, the cell says "#Value!" despite no change in the formula. what could be the reason? regards shabeer
