@Webdog... Since you just need a display list and selection of node values, I think the solution shown by SirJB & Debraj might be overkill. I suggest using a simple drop down list that is formatted to look like a tree and apply conditional formatting to alert when a non-node value is selected...
Hi Rlopez...
Welcome to Chandoo.org and thanks for asking a question.
I suggest you to explore this: http://chandoo.org/wp/2008/08/20/create-kpi-dashboards-excel-1/
if you need more inspiration, see here: http://chandoo.org/wp/excel-dashboards/
That is right. ? is a wild card when used in COUNTIF (and SUMIF, Search, VLOOKUP etc.)
One way to overcome this is to replace ? with something else, like ! (as you do not need to worry about ? symbol at all). So the below should work...
Try again. If you look very hard, thru the screen, you can see me at the other end of world, glued to a TV watching this song. Although you need to travel back in time for about 16 years.
Thanks for the detailed bug find Debraj. I added [isGameOn] condition so that Second sheet is shown only when you are in play mode. This should fix it. I have uploaded the file here: http://img.chandoo.org/contests/excel-hurdles-challenge-v1.xlsm
May be it is a bug. I thought I coded it pretty tight. Can you tell me which version of Excel (language too) you are using?
Also, did you mess with system clock or something?
Huh.. now I have seen everything :D
But I guess, I can still help. As I hummed this song probably a million times. If I am not wrong, it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtCRKmM437Y
And there is more of where it came from. The music director, A R Rahman, went on to become extremely popular...
We do have a print button & printing styles enabled on all article pages on the site (that is blog posts). If you visit any page and press CTRL+P and go to preview, you should see how it looks like.
I will think of adding such style to formula pages (http://chandoo.org/excel-formulas/ ) as well.
Well, although I stand by response, I agree with Narayan's statements. In fact, even running Chandoo.org is not all that exciting. About 90% of time I am eager to do the work and it feels like not work. But 10% of time, its poop.

Hi Bobhc & Hui..
good discussion. Here is what I am thinking these days.
1) replace the search bar with auto-complete enabled search. This helps people to find a topic they want without re-posting.
2) Show previously posted similar topics on "New topic" screen. I am not sure how to get...
Very interesting discussion.
Let me propose another solution. I think the way you structured your data is causing you all this head-ache. If you can restructure it like this -
http://img.chandoo.org/playground/restructure-data.png
then you can easily make a pivot and use group in row...
Good thread. I have been playing with it for a while and I will publish my views in a separate blog post later.
What I liked:
- Power View
- Time line filtering, just wow
- Slick, light weight feel of Excel
- pivot & chart recommendation tool
- Ability to add apps like bing maps
What...
