I have been trying to develop a solution for what seems to be a complex problem and I am hoping someone may be able to guide me through a creative approach using excel.
I have made significant headway, but I am at an impasse. The end-state is to have a tool that will help us define the maximum amount of classes that can be trained despite limited training devices.
Tab 1 is a Gantt chart that indicates the class along the row, and the date across the column.
Within each square of the Gantt chart I placed 2 digit code symbolizing one of 13 resources used to train the task. Most of my training devices are aircraft, and each aircraft can be used to train up to two classes at the same time. Some training tasks are not compatible to share an aircraft with others, as reflected in Tab 2, a simple relationship map of every conflict (adopted from a tutorial in this site).
Considering the above, how would you go about developing a formula that would consolidate and deconflict the total the amount of aircraft required each day?
I will be monitoring continuously (day/night) if I was at all unclear or if there are any questions. This is enormously appreciated.
