Ok so according to this forum rules - a must read ! - explain at least according to this forum section purpose - aka Excel features, formulas, … -
in order there is nothing to guess what exactly technically you are expecting for …

@mattmatt245 , this does look like an assignment/interview/homework question, and most forums have guidelines against helping in such instances.
I see you might have posted a similar question here: https://www.mrexcel.com/board/threads/batch-number-lookup.1233514/
where there's a video (youtube:
) about an SQL solution and a link to downloads ( https://techtfq.com/blog/lets-simplify-and-solve-a-complex-sql-interview-problem ) all in the public domain.

In the attached is a Power Query solution at cell F22, and that taken a little further at cell J22.
For cross-checking, I've added a pivot table on Sheet5 at cell J2.

Please reread and follow Forum Rules - those are for You too.
  • Cross-Posting. Generally, it is considered poor practice to cross post. That is to post the same question on several forums in the hope of getting a response quicker.
  • If you do cross-post, please put that in your post.
  • Also if you have cross-posted and get an Solution elsewhere, have the courtesy of posting the Solution here so other readers can learn from the answer also, as well as stopping people wasting their time on your answered question.

Thanks, but having a separate row for each order item will not be very practical when you're dealing with thousands or tens of thousands of items in each order and batch. I was looking for a more general solution to the problem.
