I am a translator, and using Excel to record and analyze my work efficiency.

I normally record the start date and time, end date and time, and the words for translation in a row, for example, 2015/12/18 16:30, 2015/12/21 16:10, 3403.

I want to know my efficiency, i.e. translated words per hour, and how many words I translated per day and per month.

I normally work from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. And a translation task may last for below or over one day or may span two months.

Now I find it is difficult to get the exact work time between the start date/time and the end date/time since there may be weekends, holidays between the dates and times. And it is also difficult to allocate translation words to working days of months.

Is it possible to solve the problem, and show efficiency, translated words per day, and translated words of every month with Excel 2007?

    Hello Chandoo,

    Love your site.

For 2016, it would be great if you could do an article or some kind of literature on circular references and different solutions for them.

    Keep up the good work!!!

    Regards,
    James
