Working with Web Data – Election Results compilation with Power Query

This lesson will be an out-and-out Power Query lesson. In this set of videos, you will learn:

  • Connecting to public websites from Power BI thru Power Query
  • Fetching and pre-processing data
  • Collecting data from multiple pages using Power Query functions & parameters
  • Closing remarks

  1. Hi, i want to connect power BI to a source (a web application) which has login credentials. Want to pull data from this portal and do visualisation in power BI. i tried but its not working and tables are blank when i give authentication details or it says invalid login. Would you be able to help me out with this. Does it require any permissions to be given in the application??

    I have a query (pun intended):
    At 15:20 of the second video I am trying to create the function for the party table and I get a notification that my query doesn’t reference any parameters…. where have I gone wrong????

  3. I can connect to the data website when I click on the link provided, yet when I instruct PowerBI to get data, Web, and paste that address, I get this error: “Unable to connect: Access to the resource is forbidden”. I’m in the US.

    Just like other users in this classroom, I am getting the below error message when I try to load the data from the Web URL. Also, I am located in US. Please help!!

    I have data in the following format for multiple studies:
    Column A: UniqueID
    Column B: Study name
    Column C: Country name (this could be one country or multiple countries)

    How can one plot a map for this kind of data?

  8. I can connect to the website but when I provide Power BI with the URL to get the data from the website, I get this error: “Unable to connect: Access to the resource is forbidden”. I live in Germany.
