Sorry to hear that. Can you tell me which browser / device you are using. Also, do you have any content blocking rules for 3rd party content (as we us lsns.excelschool.in domain to serve the videos).

I just replicated this in IE10. Very strange. When I load this page from FireFox, I can see the video alright. But IE10 seems to have trouble fetching the videos. Can you use an alternative browser like FireFox or Chrome? I am sorry for the trouble.
Okay… found a solution. You need to disable Active-x filtering. This seems to be the culprit.
Press ALT+T then uncheck Active-x Filtering
Now reload the page and videos play!
This sounds like an unsafe thing to do, so I would either switch to Chrome / FF or restore Active-x filtering later or set up a rule (not sure how to) only for chandoo.org to switch off Active-x filtering.
Thanks for attention, findings. (Need to leave now, will be back to try/enjoy later. Did sneak in an attempt with Safari, seemed to be encountering same— but maybe my various processes were interfering with each other.)
On the IE 10 display problem, now happily avoiding by using Google Chrome instead. Off and running now. Thanks.
Chandoo,
I have a data challenge that I can’t seem to get around. Many of my clients are in the air conditioning and heating business selling to consumers. I have several years of transactional data by address, by date, by type of transactions, and by sale amount.
There are 4 different kind of transactions. Replacements, repairs, maintenance, and service contract payments.
What I am trying to determine and present is what percentage of the first transaction with a customer are in each category.
Thanks!
Hi Charles,
Can you email me your workbook and sample data. Looks like an interesting problem. I can suggest a solution for you.
Could you please let me know which of your classes would work more with formulas? I have enjoyed the Power Pivot class, but I need more work with the measures and formulas in excel.
Thank you

Need help on Separating City State that is in one cell. No commas. I tried Text to Columns in excel but it separates only if you have 2-items in the Column. Example–Denver Co will work in Text to Columnes.
SAN PEDRO CA
–These needs Two Columns City & State not three. Do I need a formula for this?
Thanks
Marty
@Martin,
1. Extract City : =IF(ISERROR(LEFT(A1,FIND(” “,A1,FIND(” “,A1)+1))),LEFT(A1,FIND(” “,A1,1)),LEFT(A1,FIND(” “,A1,FIND(” “,A1)+1)))
2. Extract State : =IF(ISERROR(LEFT(A1,FIND(” “,A1,FIND(” “,A1)+1))),LEFT(A1,FIND(” “,A1,1)),LEFT(A1,FIND(” “,A1,FIND(” “,A1)+1)))
This will work if there are 2 spaces (SAN PEDRO CA) or 1 space (CITY STATE).
You can modify this I there are 3 spaces as well.

Hello,
I have a problem that I hope you could help me with. I have a pivot table from an OLAP source with contract data; customers in rows and month in columns. I want to count terminations per month, the logic in English would be something like: “count all blank rows which the month before were non-blank”.
I tried my way around some countifs(), but did not get them to work.
Thankful for any help
Regards
Bjorn
Hi Chandoo,
How do I get access to the class forum?
Thanks a lot,
Petr
@Petr,
There is so specific forums for the class, each lesson has a comments area at the bottom of the page. If you have any queries to be answered please post a comment on the relevant page.

I watch the lessons on a Nexus 7. They work well when I have an internet WiFi connection. When I try to download the files, so that I may watch them when WiFi is not available, the file downloads, but is then unplayable. Any suggestions?
Hi Roger,
May be you need to install an app to play the MP4 files. Can you search in Google to see if this is a limitation with your tab / Android version?
I am not understanding how to convert text to numbers so my vlookup table will work. Where can I get help?
I have sent some questions for further clarification but there is still no reply to my email till today.
I am having a real hard time keeping track of my progress
I can only sporadically drop in and view the courses. But each time I struggle with figuring out where I had left off. Any practical tips on how to handle this?
Would have been nice if the site had some features to support that (check marks to show videos I have completed, ability to resume a video where you had left off). But I am more than open to alternate even unconventional strategies. I could use a Skydrive/Google Docs document where I note my progress (I use multiple devices). Wondering if other users have any ideas around this?
@Avichal,
Currently we do not have this functionality into the classes, and you also mentioned the best possible way to track your progress by creating an online document. I would encourage you to use that till we have another solution.

Chandoo,
I really want to know if you can share that secret of your on the first business dashboard. You never gave us the formula or teach us how you use data validation to put the dates on the corner of the dashboard. Please share your answer with us.
Thank you,
The sound quality on the first lesson was very poor causing me to miss some of the content. Any suggestions?
How to check the validity of the membership?
A Question for the smart Execel Gods:
In SQL 2008 R2 I have a like Statement: Where (TeamId like N’Gold%’) I get back
Gold.1
Gold.2
Gold.3
How is this done in excel 2010 or in a Slicer
@Bharat,
If you want to just filter rows that contain Gold then you can use filters and search for Gold.
Filtering based on wild card is not possible with slicers.
If you want to sum or count values based on cells that contain gold, then use wildcard character * in SUMIFS or COUNTIFS.
Example =COUNTIFS(A1:A10, “Gold*”) will count how many cells in the range A1:A10 contain Gold.
I was expecting some of live example of VBA code. where can i find it??
Hi Gaurav ,
Can you explain what you mean by live example of VBA code ?
Do you mean that you want real-life examples instead of made-up examples ?
Narayan
Hey Narayan,
Yes, I believe so. there should be some example code as I read somewhere before joining. Live example help us to understand the thing quickly and brings us in playing zone.
Is there any other way to interact more quickly than write it here and expect an answer after couple of hours. I have more questions to ask.
Thanks!
Gaurav
Hi Gaurav ,
You don’t become a musician only by listening to Mozart. Or a mason by looking at buildings.
Programming in any language involves learning the building blocks of the language ; once you are comfortable with constructing simple segments of code , you can progress to more complex constructions , without which you cannot have real-life working code.
Have patience and keep learning.
In a journey which can take a year or two , I don’t think a couple of hours really matter.
Ask your questions and I’ll try to answer them as soon as possible.
Narayan
Hi Chandoo – I have a question about what formula to use, would you be able to email me so I could attach an excel file to explain?

Hello Chandoo,
I am frequent traveller and do not have my laptop most of the time. I tried opening the videos on mobile but was not able to. Please guide.
Hi Jinesh, You can download and sync videos to your mobile device. I recommend keeping the spreadsheets open on a laptop for pause + practice. I am not sure about video compatibility with mobile browsers, so download + sync is best option.
I am not able to download videos on Laptop. It is just giving otion to download Transcripts.
Please advise below –
1. How to download videos (couldn’t find any links)
