What can I do to speed up the load of my excel spreadsheet?

I have all of the functions I want/need for my excel spreadsheet, however it each entry in the cell loads extremely slow. I want to use this document as a shared format for multiple users...

eg if You have opened Your thread to other Forum than it should be opened -- there would be delay.

The main problem is the large amount of CheckBoxes on the worksheet. But also a suboptimal macro. If these CheckBoxes are informative (not used for calculations) then I used conditional formatting. You change the contents of cells by double clicking.
