Sumifs and Countifs Formula

Hi guys,

I need some help in understanding the sumifs and countifs formulas. Please find attached the file where i have applied both the formula. Please help me understanding the same.

"=" in both case means you are looking for range (rows) that match (equals) your criteria.

Note that each condition in SUMIF(s)/COUNTIF(s) is treated as AND condition. Meaning both conditions must be met.

What exactly are you trying to calculate here?
 
In the first case, success is measured by finding the string "<=150" within column C. Without the "=" the formula is looking for numbers that are <=150 (examples being 75 and 150 which do not form part of the data).
