Student Data Dashboard

Hi all

I've been trying to create a student data dashboard for the past week. Thanks to some great awesomeness from this forum, I now have a version fit to look at:

This is part of a post I made on this: http://www.glengilchrist.co.uk/data-dashboard-a-new-markbook/

I thought I'd post here for some constructive feedback, tweaks and other ideas on how best to "dashboard" the data.

Bear in mind that I am a high school teacher not an accountant / Excel guru, so be gentle... ;-)

Any comments greatly received.

Cheers

Glen

Not an Excel expert by any means myself (which is why I'm here too :)), but, most of my comments are around the appearance.

I'd suggest adding some titles to your charts & the dashboard itself (Student what?) so the viewer knows what they're looking at. Also, some borders around the entire thing would help. Finally, from the ones I've noticed on Chandoo's site, a little more color makes it pop!

Nice work though! Congrats.

I think it is well done. I would have to agree some titles would be nice.

Nice and clean and simple which is good.

I would say get rid of the borders on the graphs to make it even more clean looking.

Then make the top 2 graphs bottom axis line up.

The choice of colors is nice. Nice contrast. A lot of people on the board would probably say limit the whole dashboard to like 3 colors and use different shades. But I think that just makes it hard to discern information sometimes.

If you wanted to add some professional style to it. (insert 3-4 rows)Try adding a nice thick header with some dark Grey(almost black but not black) background color and some large, White, 16-18 pt font, Name of the Dashboard on the top left. Use a transparent text box if you don't want to mess up the graph positions.
