    Hi,

My office mate is trying to access a particular excel file from SHAREPOINT.

However, he is getting below mentioned pop-up while trying to open the file.

The workbook is currently open by 256 users. A maximum of 256 users can have a shared workbook open at the same time. The workbook will be opened read-only. You can try again later when one or more users have closed the workbook.

Only 5 users have access to this file and none of them has opened this file, yet issue persists.

Can anyone please help me about this issue.

PS – Not sure about where to post it, that is posted in this section.

    Apologies if rules are violated.

The first thing I would do is the check the SharePoint permissions to see if anything has been scrambled.

Also, for SharePoint site, it's good idea to enforce check-out when someone is editing the document. This will ensure proper versioning of documents.
