risks of breaking links in charts

I have several reports where I copy sheets with lots of graphs and data points to a new workbook. I want to break the links to the graphs, but am a bit worried that I will get errors. I've tried it and for now it works fine. I've seen that Excel remembers the values. Is there a limit to the number of values it can remember.

Say I have a sheet with six graphs, both with two lines and 5 years * 12 months is 60 data points per line. It looks fine to me, but am curious if anybody else has any experience with this.

Excel doesn't remember the numbers, it replaces the links with the numbers.

Example using a simple line chat with 3 values as an example

The Original Charts line series is:

=SERIES(,Sheet1!$A$1:$A$3,Sheet1!$B$1:$B$3,1)

After links are broken it changes to

=SERIES(,{"a","b","c"},{10,2,4},1)

showing 2 arrays of values for the Labels and Values

So there shouldn't be any upper limit on the number of charts you can save

If there is, it will be a very large number and you will have so many charts it would be incomprehensible anyway.

Hui,

Once again thanks for answering my question. I did a few tests and it looks fine, so I am gonna break the links and send out the reports. Thank you for your help.
