Problem in opening Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Workbooks

Hello,

I've been confronted with an issue in opening old excel files, I got some workbooks made in earlier version of Microsoft Excel i.e. 97-2003, they took a lot of time in opening, sometime it takes 15 to 20 minutes or even more. Although I currently got Microsoft Excel 2010, running Windows 7 on Intel Core i7 processor with 4 gig of RAM. Any idea why is this happening ? Any solution to this?

Thanks, I've already been doing this. Just curious if there is any other way around to open these files quickly?

I have not such issue with i5 or even i3 computers !
xls files are instant opened …

If you still have a 2003 version, do the reverse !
Once installed 2007 compatibility pack, save from 2003 version
to .xlsx or .xlsb format …
