Outputting The Value Of A Scanned Barcode In A Cell

I work with forms through out each work day scanning them in - scanning them out etc (basically a lot of scanning using a hand held scanner), and I have to also manually type in the barcode number in excel (the manual barcode entry typing part is getting a bit annoying).


My question...


Is there anything I can do through Excel that will enable Excel to convert a scan to text (or numbers)?


I just thought it would be awesome if I could simply click in a cell and scan the form (and boom it just pops the text or numbers in the cell automatically).


Is this possible?, and or could anyone point me in the right direction.


Just looking to scan barcodes in a cell (using a handheld scanner).
 
It really depends on the scanner you are using. With the correct scanner/software, you can do exactly as you said. Scan a barcode, and the numbers are typed into the cell. A quick Google search (barcodes in Excel) reveals several hits, but this might get you started:
