Opening Two Instances of Excel

Hi Everyone....

Not sure if this is possible, but just like to know your thoughts. I'm currently using Excel 2010 and know you can do this in other, older versions.

I would like to open a new instance of Excel every time I open up a saved Excel document. For example: I open spreadsheet A then try to open a completely different spreadsheet (B). I do not want spreadsheet B to open within the spreadsheet A instance/window. I want to have spreadsheet A on monitor 1 and spreadsheet B on monitor 2.

Somewhere in the recesses of my mind I (think I) remember they updated it or showed me how to years ago but I forgot.

Any thoughts...

Thanks,
Dave

Good day Dave

You can open multiple instances of Excel with the default settings, pin a shortcut to Excel to the taskbar, then hold down Shift while clicking the shortcut to open a new instance instead of activating the running instance.
