Large Slicer

test

New Member
Hi,

I have a few questions about slicers.

1) Is there a way to quickly scroll thru a long list in a slicer? I have one slicer that has over 100 options and I have to scroll thru them all to find the one I want. Of course, I can always go to multiple columns to solve the issue but if I want just one column......

2) If I remove the slicer header how do I unselect what I have filtered? The "clear filter" icon is in the header and it disappears when the header is not selected.

3) I prefiltered my pivot table for 3 years of data before creating the slicer but the selections I made are in the middle of the slicer. The slicer starts in 2003 and ends with 2042. When I sorted "Z to A" 2014, 2013, 2012 shows 1st, in that order, then 2011 - Unknown, then 2042 - 2015. Odd sort order.. If I sort by Data Source Order it is 2003 - 2042, then unknown, but my selection is in the middle. Again, going to multiple columns helps but if I only want one column.....

4) We have jobs and sub-jobs. I created a slicer on jobs and I created a slicer on sub-jobs. However, the jobs slicer alos contains the sub-jobs. Is it possible to only have jobs show in thr jobs slicer, and vice-versa, only sub-jobs in the sub-job slicer? I have done that once with slicers created for a list of data dumped from a non-financial report into Excel, and I did not use a pivot table. The non-financial report is in a sense a "flat file" that is the source for multiple slicers and I am able to have jobs only in a job slicer, and sub-jobs only in a sub-jobs slicer. Does using a pivot table changes things?

Thanks for the help.

Good day Test

If you have more than 100 options in one slicer then I would say you need to split your options in to more than one slicer.

I prefiltered my pivot table for 3 years of data. The slicer starts in 2003 and ends with 2042. 2011 - Unknown, then 2042 - 2015. Odd sort order.. 2003 - 2042,

You have more than three years of data 2003-2042 is 39 years of data, if this is a typo then I would check through your raw data for other typos that may be making a mess of your pivot, We all do it.......:(
