Is there any VBA code for Serial (RS-232) Barcode Scanner

Hi all,

recently in my company barcode project taken. I made macro for barcode creation & other work using font free 3 of 9. but I had problem regarding barcode reading.In company Barcode scanners are connected to serial port (RS-232) & required special software to read barcode printed on papers. I googled many times but didn't find any satisfied answer. So is it possible to read barcode from serial port into excel so that we can use excel macros?

normally no need a code 'cause a Barcode scanner works as a keyboard !

To check scanner, open Notepad and scan a Barcode : if nothing appears, the scanner does not work …

Hi Marc,

Only USB scanners are work as keyboard. But we have Serial port scanners & it require some setting.
So thats what problem is. External software can read barcode through serial port but then we can't change their softeware as excel.

Anyway thanks for answer.
