I am using Excel 2007, But when ever i open/save/scrol a excel 2003 file I got the following error:-

A formula in the worksheet having one or more invalid refernaces.

Varify that your formula is having a valid path, workbook, range name, cell referance.

I am not getting this error when opening that file in Excel-2003.

Its vary irritaing.

Plz guide how to reslove the issue.

External References will look something like

=+'[My Workbook.xlsx]Dashboard'!$J$10

You will need to loook for external references in vaious places

I would start with Edit Links on the Data Ribbon Connections Tab, this will show you if the file is linkled to any other worksheets

So do an initial search for ".XLS" in cell formulas

Then look in the following areas

- Named Ranges

- Chart Series

- Excel VBA

- Camera Tools or Shapes which may be linked

Also look for Hidden Sheets, Rows and Columns

That should help you with the majority of them

Thanks HUai, for your propmpt responce.

but

1) The same error does not propmpt when work with excel-2003 (PS: file is in .xls formate on;y)

2) I did not find any think which is linked to any internal/extarnal workbook/sheet

this is a very fresh sheet which is not having any extranal link
