Help to recover comments

I copied and pasted a large excel spreadsheet that had many comments. I used the regular paste and not paste special. I saved over the original and i did not paste special the copy so the comments are no longer there. Any way the comments can be recovered once the document has already been saved? Please advise. thanks
 
If you were pasting within the same instance of XL, the comments would have been copied over. Since it appears they didn't, you must have copied between different instances. When you copy this way, Paste Special wouldn't have worked, as XL is only able to transfer the cell contents & formats (not 1 or the other) and not comments.


If you've already saved over the original (ouch!) I'm hoping you have a back-up copy available, else you're probably out of luck. =(
