Formatting text: how can I change all UPPER/Proper into sentence case?

Hi (again)

I'm going through old spreadsheets and finding Idiosyncrasies with text formatting. I'm trying to turn everything into proper sentence case, e.g. The cat sat on the mat. And not THE CAT SAT ON THE MAT, or The Cat Sat On The Mat.

I've tried combining LOWER and MID functions but I'm obviously not doing it right, as I'm cuting off the first letter of the text:

Code:
=LOWER(MID(B4,2,99))
...B4 being the cell with the text in.

Can anyone show me where I'm obviously going wrong?

Many thanks (again)

Michael.
