I HAVE CELL MERGED A1+B1 AND THIS IS 2 COLUMN FORMATED AND NOW I WANT THIS THROUGH FORMULA IN C1...IS THAT POSSIBLE ...?

Your query is not clear at all. What do you mean with 2 columns formatted? Can you show or add a sample file?
If you want a formula in column C, then the result is either 1 or 2? What is your real need?
