Hi, I have an excel template i circulate for users, who enter some data and save filename in a particular format ''their_name+ddmmyyyy.xlsx'' and send me back. Its very difficult to explain everyone to use a same format so that it is easy for me to store, sort the files in a folder. i was wondering if excel could automatically suggest the filename based on a cell (sheet1 a1) for example instead of the standard template1.xlsx
 
You could add some VBA to the file that on Opening will assign a File Name and Date to a cell and then when saving would automatically save as that file name in a predefined Local or Network drive location.


To use the Users Name you will need to have Excel setup with the Users Name or Initials in the File, Options, Username settings
