At Flowing Data blog they have a topic on distracted driving and the data visualisation that it provides after you participate in this fun game assessment. Try your hand and texting and driving if only to see your reaction times as a data visaulisation.

I would strongly advise people to do what I do - lock the phone in the boot (US: trunk)! Even talking to a passenger while driving can be too distracting when there are lots of other cars about and something unexpected happens. My wife is used stopping talking - even mid sentence - when a junction comes up or a poor driver is spotted (very often, here in the UK!).
