Chart Merged Cells

Hi all,

Using excel 2007

I am trying to create a simple line chart from some data

The data updates based on a scroll bar and in in K's (675.4 for ex)

It appears as I try to chart that Excel is interpeting one of the merged cells as 0

I converted the chart type becuase initially I could not see anything

It took me a while to figure out I was not crazy!

I chnaged the chart type to column and minimized gap depth to zero yet there are still gaps between each data point - leading me to conclude that Excel is interpeting this as zero values and including them in the graph

Seems odd.

I merged AH31 and AI31. When I click on the range, it is identified as AH31.

I right arrow click one time I now see I am in cell AJ31 (AJ31 and AK31 are merged)

I entered the data into a random column with nothing merged and inserted the chart with no problem.

Any idea how I can get around this issue?

Thanks

Winston

With the Chart Selected,

on the Chart Tools, Design Tab, click on the Select data Button

Select the Hidden and Empty Cells Button

Select Show Empty Cells as Gaps option

Thanks Hui,

That gave a mountain peak valley view of the graph

The option that gives the correct interpretation of the data is Show Empty Cells As "Connect Data Points With Line"

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
