Change daily data series into weekly or monthly series.

How can I change a daily data series into a weekly or monthly series???

Column A contains the dates 1/1/2013, 2/1/2013 and so on.
Columns B & C contain the data.
Is there a simple Vlookup formula 2 achieve the desired result.???

I think more explanations are in order :

1. What kind of data do columns B and C have ?

2. What does it mean to convert daily data into weekly or monthly data ? Does adding up 7 items of daily data convert it to weekly data ?

3. When you use the word series , are you using it strictly to mean a chart series ?
