Center Across Selection on what?...

Hi all,

I just want to confirm that there is no such thing as Center Across Selection applicable to "Vertical" under cell format, right?

However, someone higher up doesn't want to merge, for instance, cells A1 and A2 together but want the text showing up in the middle of it as in a merge cell scenario. I said there is no such thing other than to merge the said cells together, as it is different from center across from A1 to E1.

please kindly advise. thanks!

You are correct, sadly. While center across horizontal exists, there is not such option for the vertical.

Possible cheats:

Use a drawing shape?

Have the cell A1 linked to a shape the size of A1+A2?

Tell them they have to make row 1 bigger (instead of merging)?

Thank you very much, Luke! That confirm my suspicion on center across "vertical".

I like your idea of using a box shape. However, I know the recipients of the file would some how mess around with it (always the case). I can't make the height in A1 bigger because A1 is associated with info on B1 and B2. that's why people would like to see "center across vertical" in the first place. I'll tell them to live within the means of what Excel can provide at the moment.
