I finally got the worksheet data to include proper times next to dates and when I chart the data the horizontal axis does not show the date(s); just some type of unit. Researching, I discovered that when I visit Format Selection for the Horizontal (value) axis, the dialog box for Axis Options does not include a group for Axis Type. It is just missing and hence no way to change to Date Axis.

In the attached file, please have a look at worksheet Sept2016.

If you look at July2016 and check formula for the series. You will see below.
=SERIES("Level",'blood-sugar-chart.xlsx'!chart_datetime,'blood-sugar-chart.xlsx'!chart_level,1)

So, Horizontal Axis is taken from named range, "chart_datetime".
This refers to range defined as...
=OFFSET(July2016!$D$27,1,0,July2016!$C$10,1)

There is hidden chart setting under the chart.

This is used to plot intra day data points. If you select range to plot as you did in your chart, it will concatenate Date & Time and will give off different result.

See attached for method using helper column (formula = A2 + B2).

Not sure how you want to treat gap from 2nd to 6th.

Have a similar query.
ASK: Want to track dates visually from a table of dates.
EXAMPLE: Have a simple table of 3 columns:
- Team name (Col1), that is requesting using an arena/ground between two dates
- Start date (Col2),
- End date (Col3)).
WHY: If there are many teams requesting using the arena/grund on different dates. So we want to see these requests visually to plan the arena/ground usage and monitor traffic. In the simple Stacked Bar Chart I created, I am not able to select Axis Type as "date" in the Axis options as per Google search, because I do not see Axis type under Axis Options in my excel, jus as @jjamjatra asked.
Any help!
