    Decimal Accuracy (and Conditional Formatting)

Thanks, pecoflyer and bobhc! I think the second question's raised quite a few issues that I didn't know about until now. bobhc, I think that a lot of us tend to overuse the phrase "I'll give 110% to performing this job," myself included, sometimes. It gives the impression that we're mindless...

    Decimal Accuracy (and Conditional Formatting)

Thanks, KenU. I believe the second paragraph's an acceptable answer to the second question. I guess that the word "accuracy" is not so easy to achieve after all; like you said, hardware constraints dictate things. That, and in hindsight, not even the metric or the Imperial measurement systems...

    Decimal Accuracy (and Conditional Formatting)

NARAYANK991, thanks! That worked out fine, although I did have to change the formula to cater for 4 decimal places instead of one. It's how that particular PTC site operates, by the way. That aside, there's still the second question. It seems that the only way is to use precision-based...

    Decimal Accuracy (and Conditional Formatting)

Greetings, everyone. Just need a bit of help on this particular conundrum. I doubt it has been posted up before, but correct me if I'm wrong. A little background about the image: I'm a member of a Paid-To-Click site, and I made this spreadsheet to calculate how much I need to obtain to get...

    Genie in a Lamp

Saviour-V reporting in. Foul-ball on Aisle 3! You brought in a rendition of Edgar Allen Poe's "Nevermore" into the mix, didn't you, bobhc? ^_~ *winks knowingly...* Heh. Quite a good read. Haven't encountered the "Abort, Retry, Ignore?" dialog in a VERY long time now. Saviour-V out.

Looking for the Excel equivalents to a few Google spreadsheet formulae.

Still need to go over the rest of that Google spreadsheet, but this is a good place to start as any. I'll post up a few findings as I go along. Thanks, LukeM, for getting the ball rolling. Also, if you're looking at the Google worksheet I posted in the first message, there's a few other points...

    Hello .. Introduce yourself

Re-introducing myself with a better intro. Hello, folks! ^_^ Saviour-V from Malaysia, here. Hoping to make the most out this place. Judging from the posts I've read on the main site, I never thought you could do a whole lot of interesting things with Excel. Makes me cringe whenever some...

Looking for the Excel equivalents to a few Google spreadsheet formulae.

Greetings again, good folk of Chandoo.org! Saviour-V reporting in. SirJB7, remember my first question here, and what I said about tackling a certain beast? Well, here comes a small part of that particular beast. For reference, the original spreadsheet's featured at the following URL...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

Hopefully, it is. My next project might be figuring out some of the formulas in this monstrosity: http://www.investmentmoats.com/stock-market-commentary/portfolio-management/introducing-our-free-stock-portfolio-tracker-spreadsheet/ Like I said in my second post here, this beast has quite a...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

Final formula, after checking with a few people about the charges: =MIN(200,MAX(1,ROUNDUP(E3/1000,0))) The owner of the blog I spoke to mentioned this: ">RM0 to RM1000, stamp duty is RM1 >RM1000 to RM2000 stamp duty is RM2 >RM2000 to RM3000 stamp duty is RM3 and so on"...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

Finally got it! ^o^/ *lifts his arms in victory...* =MIN(200,MAX(1,ROUND(E3/1000,0))) Clarified things with the guy in charge of the website; according to him, on an RM 1,500.00 contract, it's RM 2.00 worth of stamp duty. Now it's correct. I think you can close this topic now, SirJB7...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

Yeah, it's still imperfect. Like I said earlier, I'm using it for calculating costs on my stock transactions. Haven't made any big transactions lately, but in the event I do, at least I have something to track my profits (or losses) properly. Arguably, there was a better one I saw last time...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

Just tried your new formula, SirJB7. I think I'm getting close. You're right, the stamp duty's in whole numbers; the values range from RM 1.00 - RM 200.00, so RM 3.00 is OK, and RM 2.75 is not. I think the issue's in the first post here: "...for every RM 1,000.00 worth of the contract...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

I think maybe I should phrase the problem in pseudo-code so I can see it better: IF ROUND (up/down?) of total price of shares/1000 is more than 200 THEN stamp duty = 200 ELSE IF ROUND (up/down?) of total price of shares/1000 is less than 1 THEN stamp duty = 1 The above are the limits I'm...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

Thanks, SirJB7. I was wondering why my topic didn't show up initially. I'll give that piece of code a test run and figure out a formula that'll go with it. I think it's got half my answer, and if it does, I'll post up the full formula. Also, I'm trying to build up a much stronger project as...

    Hello .. Introduce yourself

On a side note, does anyone know the contact e-mail of the forum administrator? Need to contact him / her because the topic I posted in "Ask an Excel Question" yesterday didn't show up at all. I think it's because I might have accidentally deleted the registration confirmation e-mail; it must've...

Trying to create a rounding formula with some limits (for stock transactions).

Greetings, everyone. Saviour-V from Malaysia, here. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm not sure about how to create a suitable formula for my stock transaction tracking sheet that I've made in Excel. The stumbling block is the stamp duty; it's meant to be RM 1.00 (my local...
