    summing time

Ok Prasaddn -- now that you reminded me of Pivot tables, can you remind me how to change which data is used for the chart. I tried to right click the chart like I do with charts I built, but that didn't work. I update the charts weekly so this could be very helpful:) LCD

    summing time

Hi all-- I have a spreadsheet that calculates down time on a machine (G#-F#). The time is in H# and the reason is in for the down time is in I#. I tried =SUM(IF(I5:I60="Heaters",(H5:H60),"")) to figure out the total time the machine was down due to the heaters, but it didn't work. I would...

I have the date, I am trying to figure out which team worked on a certain date. But yes it could be date + 14. So how do I tell Excel to look at a given date and see if it is Oct 24 + a multiple of 14?

    Swing shift time schedules

Thankyou Luke for the shortened formula:) As for the shift work, Team A has a morning crew that comes in at 5 am and and evening crew that comes in at 5 pm on days they work. Team B the same thing. This is figured out with the Lookup(mod......) formula What I would like to do is figure out...

    Swing shift time schedules

    Hi all-- We are on a 24/7 schedule where I work with 4 teams A-1st, A-2nd, B-1st, B-2nd. We have a spreadsheet with a timestamp (mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss). Currently I use this: =IF(MOD($A6,1)<VALUE("5:00"),2,IF(MOD($A6,1)<VALUE("17:00"),1,IF(MOD($A6,1)<VALUE("24:00"),2,""))) which...

    found and seek

Hi Fred-- Well that's a start; as it stands right now we have a vlookup finding all the A's in the column and then have Excel count how many there are then we manually divide that number by 5 (Mon - Fri) and go out to the warehouse to count those A items. Can we somehow tie the Vlookup...

    found and seek

Ok, let me see if I can decribe the scenario a bit better. We have four different categories of inventory (A,B,C,D)(though there is NOT a set number of any category-- each category gets refreshed at the beginning of the month). The categories are based on usage. What we want to do is count...

    found and seek

Hi all-- I am working on a large MONTHLY inventory sheet with 400+ rows. In column AM, a letter is displayed based on amounts found elsewhere in the workbook. "A" for over 10,000, "B" for 5,000 to 10,000, "C" for under 5,000 and "D" for under 100. This is a dynamic letter which changes month...

the grass is greener? (looking over the fence)

Thanks Luke / Fred, sorry I did not explain myself. Let me try this way, if cell AB 21 has a value of 1QASW2, then we need to go to the other speadsheet (which will be open already), find "1QASW2" in lets say cell B2, then copy cells C2 - I2 back onto the original spreadsheet in cells AC 21 -...

Hi all-- My colleague thinks I am an Excel genius (he just doesn't know I am a member of Chandoo.org :) ) He asked me for help on this scenario. He has a large spreadsheet with lots of inventory data. When the actual count is outside a certain range compared to the projected count (plus or...

pulling a rabbit out of a hat (or converting timestamp to a shift)

Hi all-- I have a spreadsheet that makes a time stamp when a cell is filled. The time stamp is in the form MM/DD/YY HH:mm (with 24 hour time). In the next column I need to be able to say if the time is between 07:30 - 15:30 then a 1 is displayed (for 1st shift), if between 15:31 -- 23:30 then...

Hi all-- I built a macro to sort out a section of my spreadsheet (thanks for the help), what I could not figure out is how to have the macro put the cursor in the first blank cell in the first row. What do I have to do to go to the end of the line automatically:)? LCD
