Bar chart

Please could someone do a bar chart which shows the following:

All the figures for additional hours worked. Please note the (minus) represents that less hours were worked than the target deadline. The bar chart in essence will look a line in th middle... Anything under the line is good and anything over is bad.

High and sub level tasks should be in the same chart

There should be three charts (one for each team)

Anything to make the chart look professional, clear and concise.

Was there meant to be a file attached?

If not how about a Drawing of what you want ?

I'm sure this isn't what you want ?

If it is great

If not please explain what you are after or draw a picture

The description about Sub Tasks is confusing as they contain the same values ?

Omg Hue. I'm going to cry :(

That's exactly what I want :)

The data is dummy data and apologies that it has caused confusion. I should have made it easier to understand.

If you find a better way of presenting such data rather than my initial thought of the line going down and up then do let me know.

I look forward to your response, either with the method above or something you deem better.

See attached

You can shift the chart where ever you want them

My personal preference

I care about the data
Not the bling
True and I follow: the chart is meant to tell you something about the data. Just asked because of the request "clean and concise". I think it is a bit cleaner like this

If I look at your chart I keep feeling that as I look at a column I Kewp getting drawn back to the left hand axis to look for the zero reference
Then I can look at the length and value

In My chart you know where the zero is
It’s the dates
So the focus goes to the column value

Look forward to others comments ?

Thank you Hui for sharing your insights and opinion. I've never been great at charting and only show interest in the topic since I discovered Chandoo's blogs a few years back to be honest. I've already learned quite a lot from your guest posts as well.
Would it then help to highlight the zero value on the y-axis and make the line of the X-axis stand out? Note, I've used red which can be a problem since it often comes with a message on it's own (it is bad).

That pulls your focus back to the data
I'd still leave the - on the negative numbers
