Validation Pattern Formula

In the validation dialog box… is it possible to enter a custom formula that ignites an alert if the cell has a specific fill pattern?

The formula… an alert would appear if any entry is attempted in a cell that has the fill pattern. If a specific fill pattern can not be specified then would it be possible to do the same thing with any fill pattern? (see the attachment)

Also, is there a place to go for a comprehensive palette of colors and pattern names/codes?

I doubt that what you want can be done using formulae.
