Hi all.

I keep getting Excel error message when opening my .xlsx format document : This file is not in a recognizable format.
I could open it before! Is there something I can do myself to stop this error?

If original file extension was renamed, just rename it as original.
If not, the workbook is damaged …

What is the OS version? Try to open the file in safe mode.

I am on Windows 8. I have already tried, no luck

This problem typically occurs if you are using Excel 2003 to open a report/form that was created in Excel 2007 or in Excel 2010.
