struggling getting the right results from a table

Hi All,

I'm struggling to get a consistent formula to work on my table.

I've attached an example. I'm looking for a formula for column C that will match the correct numbered column with the item shown in each row of the table.

Then if the content of the cell in the row changes, it searches for the matching row etc.

Any help would be great

Hi Hull,

I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but I've re-attached the sheet.

I've put a drop down menu in the cells of column B to speed up the checking procedure.

Row 1 works fine, and pulls the correct result up to number 7, and so on down the list.

It may have been me that screwed the formula, so I apologise if it was.
