Stacked column per year

Hi,

please help me making this very simple chart (at least I thought so ..).

I need to make a chart showing one stacked column per year.
My data is shown below. I expected Excel to group the lines by year, but all I get is one column for both years.
So how can this be done? Any help is appreciated.
Stefan

year status number
2016 NEW 197
2016 PASSED 90
2016 REJECTED 31
2017 NEW 175
2017 PASSED 66
2017 REJECTED 88

Hi Stefan,

Please refer to attachment.
After selecting the stacked columns chart from the available charts, hit the switch rows/columns option in the structure tab up top:

If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

Hope this helps

Hi PCosta,

thanks for your reply!

The result is exactly what I need :D
But my years data are stored in one column only. This is the result of a database query that is updated regularly. I'll try to have the result's format changed, so I can use the solution you suggested.
In the mean time, is it possible to get those two columns without rearranging the source data?

Regards
Stefan
