Simple way to add physical addresses to spreadsheet?

Hi there,

I am working on adding a large quantity of physical addresses from a word document to an excel spreadsheet and I have been cutting and pasting them into rows of individual people with columns consisting of First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Phone and so on.
For example, this:

John Johnson
123 Johnson Road
Johnson, JO 18819
(555) 555-5555
jjohnson@johnson.john

To this:

|John | Johnson | 123 Johnson Road | Johnson | JO | 18819 | (555) 555-5555 etc.


I was wondering if there is a simpler, more awesome way to do this task?

Hi ,

A macro can easily help in a repetitive task like this ; you need to confirm that all of your individual entries in the Word document are in the same format , since the macro will be simpler if it does not have to handle variety.

Thank you very, very much, Narayan. I have never set up a macro before, so I will look around a bit to try to learn how it is done. If you have any advice or direction, please let me know. I sincerely appreciate it!

Hi Zach ,

The macro will be much simpler if you can transfer all of the text from your Word document into an Excel worksheet.

Can you do this for at least ten such blocks of data , and upload the resulting Excel workbook ?

Take care to remove any data which is confidential or can be used to identify anyone in particular.

And regarding your issue, consider uploading (a) sample file(s) - in this case the Word .doc? as well- (including manual examples of desired output if applicable), it'd be very useful for those who read this and might be able to help you, relieving the contributor of having to build a test file, if necessary. Hello there Narayan and SirJB7, thank you for your help so far. I certainly appreciate it. I had read the new user info yesterday, so I hope I didn't do anything to offend anyone. I am not all that computer savvy, so pardon my inexperience. I have created an example Word address set (saved as a .doc and .docx) as well as an Excel sheet.
