Need a formula.

Hi Ninja,

please help me out with the formula to get the first three characters in this value as follows
-C0-01

I'm not able to use the left function as it is not getting any value.

I have attached the file.

column D contains the value from which i need to get the first three characters which contains '-' as the first character.

In Column E, E2 contains the expected result.

Actual as column F is what I'm getting by using the left()

Hi Priya,

Column E is formatted as 'Text' change it to formula and then hit f9 or click formulas ribbon to calculate sheet. This should work fine.
