Hi, I need a formula that will look up a list of student numbers in tab 'data consol' that have a specific name of a teacher and put them into A1 in the tab named 'Alias Smith' who is the teacher (not using real name). the person who used this formula in another spreadsheet similiar to mine used Index, Small and IF to create but even though I have the same info in mine i.e. - same students and teachers etc it will not work.

Please help!!

Hi Ann ,

Without specifics , such as the exact formula used , preferably the workbook itself , there are so many possibilities. The easiest one to think of is that you would not have entered it as an array formula , using CTRL SHIFT ENTER.

Remember , any time you use the SMALL / LARGE function together with INDEX / IF function , there is always this error.
