I am comparing the budget YTD vs Actual YTD. if I am in period 5 of the year, how do I get only the sum of the first 5 columns to display in the budget YTD column.
    If N7=5, then sum B8:f8

    Hi ,

Please upload your workbook , and then explain what you wish to do.

Understanding an explanation without the data and its layout is difficult.

    Hi Narayan,

Are you able to see my file? Cell O7 is linked to the cover page where it defines the period number and month. If O7=period 5, then the formula must sum B8:F8.

    Hi ,

Wouldn't this do the job ?

    =SUM(OFFSET($B$8,,,1,$O$7))

Thank you so much. This worked perfectly. Do you by any chance know how to do the following:
    - i have used sumif to extract information in my balance sheet
    - how do I reclassify credit accounts which are in debit to automatically post to accounts payables.

    Hi ,

I may be good in Excel , but I am new to all those terms !

Can you explain purely in Excel terms , with reference to worksheet tabs and cells ?
