I Need to Copy a Protected Workbook

Good morning,

I am trying to copy a workbook that is password protected. Unfortunately the author cannot recall the password. I figured out how to do it from one of your posts on Jan 16, 2013. I used VBA with the statement "Activesheet.Cells.Select" It highlighted my data but when I try to copy it the workbook status becomes "Not Responding". Help!

No issue on my side to copy data from active worksheet …
And the workbook is not protected !

Hi, AmyMasseySJC!

When I open the workbook it prompts for updating data from external sources, wouldn't it be that the freezing is caused by having agreed to update?

And I agree with Marc L, no issues copying from that unprotected workbook, I can even show the 7 hidden worksheets.

BTW, you said something about VBA but this is a .xlsx workbook, no VBA allowed.
