How to show a value based on a list

Hi there all,

Is it possible to show branch number in a macro of some sort, based on a value from another cell. I am probably not saying any of this correctly. I have attached file. This file is imported into excel with Column D already in. I would like to have automatically the branch numbers related to Column D as shown in Column F. At the moment I am manually putting in the Branch Numbers in Column F.

26/08/2014 25/08/2014 POS G1401123 BIM Electron 16,379.00 717 205,786.54
POS G1401123 BIM Electron was a payment made through (not to) our Branch 717 (as is shown in Column F). The POS G1401123 is a machine at branch 717. So the payment was made from that machine, and i need to show the branch number. Does that make any sense?

P.s. I am manually putting in the branch codes, I would like Column F to automatically pick up from Column D, and put the Branch code into Column F.

Hi MN,

Some observation from my side:

You are pulling branch code as per G1401123 text starting with POS. So you can create a lookup table with all these machine numbers with their branch and use a lookup function to get branch code, if the column C value has this text.
