How can you graph many sine waves and then take a composite?

I am trying to find a way to:

1. Create a data source containing data for multiple sine waves (various amplitudes, various periods and various frequencies)
2. Then graph a composite sine wave, i.e. take all sine waves from #1, add them together and plot a graph of that.

In short, I want to graph the result of many waves summed together. Can anybody please point me in the right direction?

Hi ,

This is not just a matter of charting ; there is a lot of mathematics behind it , in fact a whole branch of maths called Fourier synthesis.

To start with , you can Google this term , or you can go to these links :

Thank you. You seem to know quite a bit. I looked up some YouTube videos and I have found some that will get me started. Thank you.

Hi DashboardNovice,

See the attached file. I had shown the addition of two sine equation. Please note this is just the basic illustration.
If your function are more complicated you may have to derive the final equations based on the number of equations and may have to involve MATRIX, Phasor, Complex Numbers etc.
Just an advise if you doing some mathematical study considering using MATLAB software which is enriched in such tasks.

Regards,
