Does advanced filter work on ‘Contains’ criteria only

Hi,

I was doing some random advance filter work today. While doing it I realized that, Advanced Filter matches the criteria as ‘Contains’, it does not takes ‘Equal’.

I am not sure if am missing something or ‘Advanced Filter’ is designed in this way only and I am unaware about this condition.
Please check attached file for more details. Can anyone please help me in this.
