How can I write a formula to add these up

I want to add the following single digits up and need a formula on hoe to do so. I looked back and can not seem to find where I may have asked in the past so if I have my apologies in advance. The example would be:

1+6+2+3+2+5+2+8+5= 34

8+1+1+1+2+1+9+1+3=27
